Mumtaz jafri ( Goes, The Netherlands, 18 December 1970.)
Studied at the Academy of performing Arts in Amsterdam (1989 - 1995).
After graduating he toured The Netherlands for 3 years, with his 4-time award
winning one man show “NUL” ( ZERO ).
In October 1998 he left the theatre to pursue a childhood dream of becomming a recluse
on a Welsh mountain. From 1998 till 2005 he bred goats, poultry, dogs, trained horses,
kept sheep, pigs, cows and bees and grew his own food on his smallholding
in the South of Wales.
From 2005 till 2007 Mumtaz lived in Amsterdam, where he recorded a CD,
New York, where he attended a 3D animation course, and finally found himself
back in his beloved Wales.
Throughout every period of his life Jafri has always illustrated, drawn and painted.
His influences are Stan Lee comics, science fiction, the natural world, Francis Bacon and
Enki Bilal, to name but a few.
These days Mumtaz lives in the south of Wales where he is studying for his masters
in graphic communication at the university of Glamorgan, and is currently working on his first childrens book; "Shiny Little Friends". |
